Sakura Sushi is a modern online platform we developed for a local sushi restaurant to streamline their ordering process and enhance customer experience. The goal was to create a seamless, user-friendly website where customers could browse the menu, customize their orders, and place them online for pickup or delivery. We chose Next.js for its fast performance and server-side rendering capabilities, ensuring the site loads quickly and provides a smooth experience even on slower networks.
The platform integrates with Firebase for real-time order management and user authentication. Customers can create accounts, save their favorite orders, and track their order status in real time. Firebase’s Firestore database allowed us to efficiently store and manage menu items, customer data, and order history, while its authentication service ensured secure login and registration processes for users.
A key feature of Sakura Sushi is its intuitive menu system, which includes high-quality images of each dish, detailed descriptions, and options for customization (e.g., adding extra toppings or specifying dietary preferences). We implemented a shopping cart system that updates dynamically as users add or remove items, providing a clear summary of their order before checkout. The checkout process supports multiple payment methods, including credit cards and digital wallets, integrated via a third-party payment gateway.
To ensure the restaurant staff could manage orders efficiently, we built an admin dashboard where they can view incoming orders, update their status (e.g., from 'preparing' to 'ready for pickup'), and manage the menu. The dashboard also includes basic analytics, such as daily sales and popular items, helping the restaurant make data-driven decisions. Since launching the platform, Sakura Sushi has seen a 40% increase in online orders and a significant improvement in customer satisfaction due to the convenience and transparency of the ordering process.
